Christos Nikolaou is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Crete, and the founder of the Transformation Services Laboratory. He has been a member of the European Commission IST Advisory Group (ISTAG, 2007-2009) and is an Institutional Evaluator of the European University Association (EUA). Has been Rector of the University of Crete, Chairman of the National Education Council, of the Greek Strategy Committee for Informatics in Education, and of the Executive Committee of the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM). PhD (’82) and M.Sc. (’79) from Harvard University, Diploma (’77) from National Technical Univ. of Athens. Coordinator of several IST projects and consultant to the European Commission. His current research interests are on service value networks, Service Science and Engineering, e-business. Research Staff Manager at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, where his research on market-oriented resource allocation for high-performance transaction processing systems and highly available computing systems led to four US Patents, several IBM awards and numerous refereed publications in scientific journals and conferences.
